The contract for Phase Two of our Strategic Plan, The Center for Science and the Arts, has been awarded to Raymond R. Houle Construction, Inc. of Ludlow. We expect onsite work to begin early in May. To meet our operating budget, we must raise $500,000 by June 2009 through a combination of donations to the Annual Fund, Gifts-in-Kind, and donations to the Building Fund. We anticipate a capital campaign will take place sometime thereafter to complete the total long-range plan consisting of Phases Three, a new gymnasium and classroom complex, and Four, an auditorium and additional office areas. It has begun! Saturday, April 5, we set out to dismantle and relocate the playground equipment in preparation for the onset of construction. We were blessed to have twenty men and boys show up to help. God gave us a beautiful day after a day and a half of rain. The swing sets were taken apart and the posts dug out of the ground. The rain had softened up the soil making the job that much easier to accomplish. The cement footings were then broken off the posts with sledgehammers. Mr. Robert Bragg operated a backhoe and lifted the equipment out of the ground. A jackhammer was then used to break up the cement play areas. It was a good time of hard work and fellowship.

Springfield, MA – After months of seeking God's will and evaluating numerous alternatives, we believe God has opened a door of opportunity for us to begin construction on phase two of our four-phase PVCS Strategic Plan.  The new building, linking the middle and high school wings of the present facility, will be called The Center for Science and the Arts.  Groundbreaking will take place April 2nd with occupancy expected to coincide with the beginning of the second semester of the 2008 – 2009 school year or perhaps earlier.
